No musical background is necessary, just a love of period music and a desire to learn. Marie can teach most period woodwinds, and there are string players and percussionists in the group who can provide coaching on those instruments as well. We can also teach musical theory, and we even have some loaner instruments. We're perfectly happy to grow new musicians from scratch if it means we'll have more music at our events. :)

Rehearsals are on Sundays, from 12:00-1:45pm, in a private home near Woodroffe and Hunt Club, accessible by 94 and 95 bus routes. Email Marie for exact directions. Practices generally take place from September to May, we traditionally take a break for the summer camping season.

These practices are 100% voluntary, but members are encouraged to attend as often as they can, and to practice on their own for any nights they miss. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to miss the occasional practice and still keep up (we all have lives, after all), but we do intend to perform some of these pieces in public from time to time, and that means we need to keep moving forward.

Strong musicians who can't make regular practices for geographical or other logistical reasons, but are confident learning the music on their own, are welcome to join us for feast performances provided they can join us for event-day practices and tuning sessions. Anyone and everyone regardless of experience level is invited to join us in playing for dancing, and for impromptu jam and practice sessions. We love music. Come love it with us. :p
